Hospice is offered to patients with a projected life expectancy of six months or less as a result of a life-limiting illness. The goal of hospice care is to respect the dignity of the patient and to maximize the quality of living for both the patient and family. A team of physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, certified nursing assistants, and trained volunteers provide care to the patient and family to:
- Manage pain and other symptoms

Educate caregivers

Teach family members how to care for their loved one at home

Assist with personal care

Assist in obtaining equipment, supplies and medication

Provide professional counseling for adults and children

Provide spiritual and bereavement support

Provide help in accessing needed community resources

Assist with practical tasks by trained volunteers

Provide availability of on-call nurse 24-hours a day

Provide ongoing support through bereavement support groups available to hospice families and community members
